Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Ironwood Rowan Energy is an energy provider in Honolulu focused on reliable service and fair billing, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. We work closely with regulators and communities. What you will do • Track costs around usage data against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to meter readings, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with meter readings. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in Honolulu. • We reply to every applicant.
