Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Cedar North Insurance Group provides coverage to households and businesses around Phoenix. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would join a large organisation of about 889 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to underwriting files, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with underwriting files. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in Phoenix. • We reply to every applicant.
