Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Redstone Harbor Foods produces packaged foods at its Des Moines plant. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Track costs around ingredient orders against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to allergen controls, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with allergen controls. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, mornings. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in Des Moines. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
