Accountant - month-end close (remote)

We are growing our team at Lumen Yarrow Transit Planning and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around accessibility audits against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with survey data. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in Anchorage. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
