Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Northwind Amber Community Partners is a Portland charity working with residents on basic needs and opportunity. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. Flexibility and kindness are expected. What you will do • Track costs around grant reporting against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with donor records. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • Remote-friendly, with an occasional day on site in Portland. • We reply to every applicant.
