Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Fernwood Kestrel Community Partners is a Atlanta charity working with residents on basic needs and opportunity, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. Mission matters here, and so does looking after staff. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around client intake against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with volunteer shifts. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Atlanta. • We reply to every applicant.
