Accountant - month-end close (remote)

We are growing our team at Fernwood Fox Learning Group and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to attendance records, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around family communication against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with attendance records. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Kansas City. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
