Accountant - month-end close (remote)

We are growing our team at Northwind Lakeside Freight and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 12 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around claims against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to carrier rates, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in St. Louis. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
