Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Northwind Keystone Arts Center Group is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for volunteer programmes, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a large organisation of about 284 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to volunteer programmes, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around ticketing against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with volunteer programmes. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • Remote-friendly, with an occasional day on site in Detroit. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
