Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Westbrook Ember Community Partners runs community programmes across Colorado Springs. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. Flexibility and kindness are expected. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around donor records against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to client intake, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Colorado Springs. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
