Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Lumen Housing Group manages affordable housing communities across Knoxville, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. Housing is our mission and residents are our neighbours. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around maintenance stores against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with lease compliance. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in Knoxville. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
