Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Ironwood Clear Inspection Services is an inspection company in San Antonio with field technicians and lab staff, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a large organisation of about 893 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Track costs around equipment calibration against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to client sites, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in San Antonio. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
