Accountant - month-end close (Raleigh, NC)

Harborlight Thistle Early Learning Group runs childcare centres in Raleigh caring for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a large organisation of about 756 people based in Raleigh. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to classroom supplies, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with classroom supplies.
