Accountant - month-end close (Portland, OR)

Nova Wren Legal Group is a Portland practice with attorneys, paralegals and client-service staff. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would join a large organisation of about 639 people based in Portland. What you will do • Track costs around trust accounts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to client files, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with client files.
