Accountant - month-end close (Portland, OR)

Redstone Sparrow Telecom provides broadband and phone service around Portland, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. We keep people connected and take outages personally. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around outage reports against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to network equipment, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with network equipment. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Portland. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
