Accountant - month-end close (Portland, OR)

Bluepeak Bright Community Partners Group runs community programmes across Portland. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. Flexibility and kindness are expected. What you will do • Track costs around grant reporting against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to benefits enrolment, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with benefits enrolment.
