Accountant - month-end close (Portland, OR)

Foxglove Hollow Arts Center is an arts centre in Portland with a full calendar of events, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. Evenings and weekends are part of the job. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around ticketing against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to visitor services, and clear open items. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with visitor services. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Portland. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
