Accountant - month-end close (Portland, OR)

Westbrook Pike Learning Group is an education provider in Portland serving students and families. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. We follow the school calendar and we like people who like learning. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to school calendars, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around family communication against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Portland, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
