Accountant - month-end close (Pittsburgh, PA)

Stonegate Junction Insurance sells home, auto and small-business insurance in Pittsburgh, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Pittsburgh. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to underwriting files, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around claims against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Pittsburgh. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
