Accountant - month-end close (Phoenix, AZ)

Redstone Meridian Banking Services is a regional lender in Phoenix with branches and a growing mobile service. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. We keep decisions close to customers and expect people to explain things plainly. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to deposit accounts, and clear open items. • Track costs around branch operations against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Phoenix. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
