Accountant - month-end close (Phoenix, AZ)

Westbrook Nest Water Authority is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for billing accounts, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 18 people based in Phoenix. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to billing accounts, and clear open items. • Track costs around pipe repairs against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
