Accountant - month-end close (Philadelphia, PA)

Fernwood Oak Legal Group is a Philadelphia practice with attorneys, paralegals and client-service staff. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 21 people based in Philadelphia. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to court deadlines, and clear open items. • Track costs around intake forms against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with court deadlines. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Philadelphia. • We reply to every applicant.
