Accountant - month-end close (Omaha, NE)

We are growing our team at Westbrook Keystone Energy Associates and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 35 people based in Omaha. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around outage response against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to hardship programmes, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Omaha, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
