Accountant - month-end close (Omaha, NE)

Fernwood Kestrel Community Partners is a nonprofit in Omaha supporting families with food, housing and job help, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Omaha. What you will do • Track costs around benefits enrolment against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Omaha, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
