Accountant - month-end close (Oakland, CA)

Fernwood Juniper Care Services is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for visit scheduling, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a large organisation of about 997 people based in Oakland. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around care plans against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with visit scheduling. • A degree or certificate in accounting.
