Accountant - month-end close (Oakland, CA)

Nova Field Housing provides affordable homes and support services around Oakland. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 30 people based in Oakland. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to maintenance stores, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with maintenance stores. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in Oakland. • We reply to every applicant.
