Accountant - month-end close (Oakland, CA)

Stonegate Clear Telecom provides broadband and phone service around Oakland. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 147 people based in Oakland. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to field visits, and clear open items. • Track costs around billing accounts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with field visits. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Oakland. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
