Accountant - month-end close (Oakland, CA)

Rivermark Beacon Financial provides savings, lending and payment services from Oakland. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to vendor spend, and clear open items. • Track costs around regulatory reports against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with vendor spend. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Oakland, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
