Accountant - month-end close (Oakland, CA)

We are growing our team at Clearpath Lakeside Transit Planning Group and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. You would join a large organisation of about 864 people based in Oakland. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around ridership counts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with survey data. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in Oakland, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
