Accountant - month-end close (New Orleans, LA)

We are growing our team at Stonegate River Staffing and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. Recruiters here keep in touch with people long after placement. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to temp assignments, and clear open items. • Track costs around timekeeping against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in New Orleans, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
