Accountant - month-end close (New Orleans, LA)

Westbrook Union Hospitality Partners operates hotels and event venues around New Orleans, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a large organisation of about 309 people based in New Orleans. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around housekeeping schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to reviews and feedback, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with reviews and feedback. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in New Orleans. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
