Accountant - month-end close (New Orleans, LA)

Fernwood Field Press is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for press runs, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 183 people based in New Orleans. What you will do • Track costs around proofing against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with press runs. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in New Orleans, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
