Accountant - month-end close (Nashville, TN)

Westbrook North Community Partners is a Nashville charity working with residents on basic needs and opportunity, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to benefits enrolment, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around grant reporting against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Nashville. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
