Accountant - month-end close (Nashville, TN)

Nova Mill Transit Planning is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for fare systems, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 56 people based in Nashville. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around service alerts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to fare systems, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with fare systems. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Nashville, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
