Accountant - month-end close (Nashville, TN)

Northwind Birch Care Services supports families and individuals in Nashville with personal care and coordination, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. We train and promote from within. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to client records, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with client records. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Nashville, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
