Accountant - month-end close (Minneapolis, MN)

We are growing our team at Cedar Clear Transit Planning Group and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around ridership counts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to fare systems, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Minneapolis, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
