Accountant - month-end close (Miami, FL)

Westbrook Bridge Transit Planning helps transport agencies around Miami design routes and schedules. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 176 people based in Miami. What you will do • Track costs around fare systems against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to route schedules, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with route schedules. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Miami. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
