Accountant - month-end close (Madison, WI)

Stonegate Bright Markets Group is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for shrink and waste, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. Managers started on the floor. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to shrink and waste, and clear open items. • Track costs around pricing against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with shrink and waste. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Madison. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
