Accountant - month-end close (Madison, WI)

Lumen Ivory Hospitality operates hotels and event venues around Madison, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Madison. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to supplier orders, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with supplier orders. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Madison. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
