Accountant - month-end close (Louisville, KY)

Stonegate Energy delivers power and gas plans across the Louisville region. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. We work closely with regulators and communities. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to outage response, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around billing disputes against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with outage response. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Louisville. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
