Accountant - month-end close (Knoxville, TN)

Bright West Transit Planning is a transit-planning firm in Knoxville working with agencies and riders. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would join a large organisation of about 243 people based in Knoxville. What you will do • Track costs around fare systems against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to survey data, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with survey data. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Knoxville. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
