Accountant - month-end close (Kansas City, MO)

Stonegate Vista Community Partners Group is a nonprofit in Kansas City supporting families with food, housing and job help. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would join a large organisation of about 723 people based in Kansas City. What you will do • Track costs around grant reporting against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Kansas City. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
