Accountant - month-end close (Kansas City, MO)

Harborlight Union Foods is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for production batches, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. Shifts are steady and overtime is planned. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to production batches, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with production batches. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Kansas City. • We reply to every applicant.
