Accountant - month-end close (Jackson, MS)

Lumen Timber Manufacturing is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for scrap and rework, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 23 people based in Jackson. What you will do • Track costs around tooling against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to scrap and rework, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with scrap and rework. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Jackson. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
