Accountant - month-end close (Jackson, MS)

We are growing our team at Clearpath West Energy and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 144 people based in Jackson. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to billing disputes, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around service connections against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Jackson. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
