Accountant - month-end close (Indianapolis, IN)

Silverline Quarry Energy delivers power and gas plans across the Indianapolis region, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. Reliability is the job, and people here take pride in answering the phone at 3 a.m. when needed. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to billing disputes, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Indianapolis. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
