Accountant - month-end close (Indianapolis, IN)

Westbrook Foods Group produces packaged foods at its Indianapolis plant, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 51 people based in Indianapolis. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to allergen controls, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with allergen controls. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Indianapolis, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
