Accountant - month-end close (Houston, TX)

Silverline Cobalt Auto Group serves drivers and dealerships across the Houston region, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 40 people based in Houston. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to vehicle inspections, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with vehicle inspections. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Houston. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
