Accountant - month-end close (Houston, TX)

Bluepeak Lantern Markets is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for promotions, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. We are friendly and busy, especially on weekends. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around online orders against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to promotions, and clear open items. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Houston, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
