Accountant - month-end close (Honolulu, HI)

Summit Meridian Inspection Services tests and certifies buildings, pipelines and equipment around Honolulu, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. Technicians travel and report carefully. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to certifications, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around client sites against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Honolulu. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
